# NZ Residential & Companies Office - Address Matching Rules

'New Zealand Residential' and 'New Zealand Companies Office' follow the below-mentioned rules when it comes to address matching:

- In order to get the maximum *addressMatchScore*, all the address elements have to be entered.
- **Either** *addressElement3* **or** *addressElement5* must be present. Skipping both will result in an error and the search won't be performed.
- The remaining two address fields, *addressElement1* and *addressElement4*, are optional.
- Removing the optional fields will, in most cases, will still give an *addressMatchScore*, though a reduced one.
